WINE ADVENT CALENDAR

WINE ADVENT CALENDAR

The world of wine is inundated with sameness – the same varietals and same styles being planted and produced all over the world. L’Oeil, French for “eye," represents our quest to look for something else, to break free from the bonds of vinous ubiquity. L’Oeil Petite Sirah rewards the pursuit of our vinous exploration with a uniquely Californian, thrillingly satisfying medium-bodied red wine.

WINE PROFILE

Firm and dense, this wine has a presence that is immediately felt! The overall impression is dark and wild, with ripe blue and black fruit notes in abundance. A hint of black pepper on the finish and spicy, chewy tannins provide the sense of classic California structure that only Petite Sirah can provide

L’OEIL OF THE TIGER

The story of California Petite Sirah is one of evolution. At first regarded as little more than a blending grape, best utilized to add color and tannin to a red wine, times have changed as tastes evolved. As California winemakers moved away from the “French is better” paradigm and further developed the knowledge of their unique terroir, wines like Petite Sirah have gained a place in the spotlight.

Wines such as L’Oeil Petite Sirah excel at expressing the characteristics that California wines show best – power, ripeness, and fruit. Lodi features the perfect climate and soils and, combined with the care with which L’Oeil is grown, produces a thrillingly dark, rich and hearty red wine perfect for every hearty meal and summer barbecue.
