WINE ADVENT CALENDAR
Atrevido, Spanish for “daring,” owes its name to the Tempranillo grape variety’s ability to not just survive, but actually thrive, in some of the world’s most challenging viticultural landscapes. A grape naturally predisposed to suffer through extreme heat and arid conditions, it is the backbone of Spain’s world famous Rioja wines. Daring also were the California grape-growing pioneers who imported Tempranillo to the Golden State, where it is now producing thrilling, rich, robust wines. Vinous fortune favors the daring vigneron!
Atrevido Tempranillo delivers dark fruit and fresh earth aromas, along with a hint of spice. On the palate, this distinctively expansive wine features dark cherry, clove and cedar notes, and is very food friendly. Enjoy it with meats and cheeses, with every sip of Atrevido amplifying the enjoyment of both food and wine.

UNO, DOS, TRES, ATREVIDO
Despite being relatively sparsely planted, Tempranillo, the great Spanish grape variety of Rioja, is generating serious buzz in California. Wine drinkers looking for a new expression, daring to try something new, need to look no further than California Tempranillo - perhaps the next big thing in California red wine.
Lots of work has recently gone into finding the ideal sites for Tempranillo in California, and while a consensus has not yet been reached, many winemakers are opting to search for terroirs that closely mimic the grape’s native home in Spain. Atrevido is grown in one such locale – the dry, inland part of the state, where the abundant sunshine ensures consistent ripening, and the challenging conditions produce wines that are intense, richly extracted, and firmly focused.
VARIETAL COMPOSITION: 100% Tempranillo
WINEMAKING PROCESS: Tempranillo requires careful attention during the fermentation process, as a delicate hand is necessary to avoid the extraction of harsh, bitter tannins. Atrevido is allowed to ferment slowly, at cool temperatures, resulting in a Tempranillo of uncommon elegance, smooth tannins, and a balance of power and grace.
RESIDUAL SUGAR: 0.6g/L
