WINE ADVENT CALENDAR
The most iconic grape variety in California, the state’s Cabernet Sauvignon wines are justly world famous and have earned their place in the pantheon of the planet’s most coveted vinous treasures. Indeed, Cabernet Sauvignon has become synonymous with some of the very best wines that California has to offer, earning its status as the most planted, respected, and sought after red grape variety in the entire state.
Astratta is a "wow" wine... deep and rich yet still maintaining a sense of balance and finesse. The tannins are fine, the mid-palate layered and the edges rounded - a fine testament to what California can do with Cabernet Sauvignon. It pours a deep ruby/purple color, followed by a smorgasbord of blackberry, cassis and earthy flavors. Finishes long, with waves of juicy dark fruit and licorice notes, resonating nicely.

Winner of the red category at the prestigious Judgement of Paris tasting in 1976, California Cabernet has continued an unprecedented rise in both quality and popularity, and vignerons are constantly in search of undiscovered terroir and new expressions. The Lodi winegrowing region, south of Sacramento, while well-known for Zinfandel, has in recent years been identified as one of these new Cabernet hot spots.
The Lodi region produces big, rich, bold and spicy Cabs that are perfect to serve at a summer cookout or warming up by the fire, there is no wrong time or place. Astratta Cabernet Sauvignon is distinctive and refined... a level of class that signals a triumph for this revered grape variety and under appreciated wine region.
